Solid wood slab tables are more durable than ordinary furniture and do not require excessive protection during use. Even if marks from use appear over time, they are considered normal wear and tear.
During production, the slabs undergo drying, insect removal, and waterproofing treatments. The surface is coated with Sykes wood wax oil, which is safe, eco-friendly, and preserves the fine texture of every inch of the solid wood slab.
Wood naturally maintains a humidity level of 35%-65%, which is also the ideal humidity for human living environments. If the room humidity drops below 40%, lacks ventilation, or is exposed to high
temperatures for extended periods, severe cracking may occur. We strongly recommend using a hygrometer and humidifier, especially during autumn and winter, to better control room humidity and effectively reduce the likelihood of cracking.
01.Prevent exposure to direct sunlight
Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause wood to oxidize and change color, and even lead to cracking or warping due to excessive temperature differences.
02.Stay away from humid environments
Solid wood slabs should not be placed in damp environments to avoid surface mold caused by excessive humidity.
03.Stay away from the source of high temperature
Keep the slab away from high-temperature sources such as heaters, radiators, air conditioners, and grills to prevent cracking or warping due to excessive heat.
04.Timely clean the table board
Accumulated water, dust, and dirt on the table surface should be promptly cleaned and wiped to maintain cleanliness and ensure long-term use.
05.Dry wipe and clean the table board
For daily cleaning, dry wiping is the primary method. If there are stubborn stains, use a damp (but well-wrung) cloth to wipe the table surface. Avoid cracks and warping.
06.Waxing and maintenance
Solid wood slabs should be maintained with wood wax oil every three months, especially at the ends, to prevent cracking and warping, ensuring long-term durability.
◇Xiumu offers SAICOS natural plant-based wood wax oil
Apply Saicos wood wax oil to the slab surface, allowing it to penetrate. Since it directly contacts the wood, you can feel the texture and moisture of the wood. Over time, the color and texture will evolve, becoming warmer and more inviting
As there is no surface coating film, there is no special protection against scratches or stains. However, minor scratches and stains can be embraced as part of the "character" and "memories" of the piece. For more noticeable scratches or stains, customers can perform maintenance using sandpaper.
Note: We use German Saicos natural plant-based wood wax oil, which is safe even if licked by children after drying. For maintenance, we recommend using the same product (avoid using cooking oil, as it can cause mold). If you need wood wax oil, please purchase it from the official Legend of Decayed Wood website.
